Prerequisites
Please take the time to get to know the Qigong Sensory Treatment Training Course Prerequisites.
All of our course offerings involve direct work with parents of children with autism. We require that students have a clear understanding of autism and the demands that it makes on parenting and family life.
In order to fulfill the prerequisites for our courses, applicants should:
1. Have at least two years of professional or paraprofessional experience working with children on the autism spectrum – or – be a parent or close family member of a child with autism
2. Be in good health, taking little or no medication. QST massage for autism utilizes the energy and sensibility of the practitioner; these are affected by chronic illness.
3. Recruit a family and obtain informed consent to work with the family for the duration of the course.
4. The child should meet the following five criteria:
*Some psychoactive medicines suppress nervous system responses and can interfere with the beneficial effects of qigong massage on the nervous system

- Have a diagnosis of autism
- Be under 6 years of age
- Be on little or no psychoactive medication*
- Have no additional neurological disability (e.g. cerebral palsy or uncontrolled seizures)
- No other intensive autism interventions should be planned to begin at the same time as QST
